Calculation of DG set current while knowing KVA Rating - 

Formula - 

Power (KW) = 1.73 x V x I x Power Factor (PF)

Example -  DG set of 1010 KVA with a power factor - 0.8 & Voltage 415 V

                  So, To calculate the DG set current first we have to calculate the power

                  P.F. = KW/KVA

                  KW = KVA x P.F.   

                  KW = 1010 x 0.8

                  KW = 808

Hence,

               Power (KW) = 1.73 x V x I x Power Factor (PF)

                      808 x 1000 = 1.73 x 415 x I x 0.8

                        I = 808000/1.73 x 415 x 0.8

                        I = 808000/575

                        I = 1405 Amp

So, For 1010 KVA D.G Set the maximum current capacity is 1405 Amp
